It has been 3 weeks since I last updated this blog. Retirement is busier than I thought!
While I might not have time to update this much, I will continue to predict snow days next winter.
In the meantime, if you want a steadier supply of my sarcastic comments, I'm on Facebook. Look me up or comment on this if you want a direct link sent to you.
When I was teaching, I used this blog to communicate with my students.
Now I use it to share my photos.

Could we deal with the real problem, please?
Could
we deal with the real problem, please?
Handguns
kill.
So
do
long
guns
steak
knives
axes
hammers
rocks
sharp
pointy sticks
sharp
pointy #2 pencils
rope
shoe
laces
pocket
knives
switchblades
firebombs
stilettos
swords
blackjacks
brass
knuckles
nunchaks
throwing
stars
explosives
saran
gas
grenades
rockets
failure
to vaccinate children
baseball
bats
monkey
wrenches
automobiles
teeth
crossbows
slingshots
And
mean comments on social media.
So
can we stop wasting all of our energy trying to ban just one deadly weapon
(especially since prohibition never works) and deal with the real
problem? Why do some people feel the
need to lash out with deadly force? I
know that solving real problems is always more difficult than picking something
to blame, but how about we try?
Hello Again
I haven't been updating this blog for a while, because I was enjoying a 2-week trip to Ireland.
Lovely place. The people are laid back, friendly, and not feeling entitled. People there have responsibilities as well as rights, and they know it. If there are problems that can be solved, they solve them. Otherwise, they just share a few pints and move on.
And the beer there has flavor! They drink for pleasure, not to get drunk like Americans. In fact, they have very little respect for someone who can't handle his beer.
Every bus has free wi-fi, as does every pub.
The air is clean! Windmills, solar, and fresh air off the Atlantic.
As for their education system, they have us beat. Kids are encouraged to follow their strengths, not all pass a standardized test. If they are academically inclined, they go to university - free. If they want to pursue a trade, they go to a trade college - free.
