EVERY Valley School - Except One

Avon, Bloomfield, Bristol, Farmington, Hartford.....   I guess I underestimated WeHa's determination to close on June 10.

I hope you all made it in safely.

Updated Sunday 8:30 PM - Late Openings, And Some Closings

Another move to the east, so I am updating the forecast slightly.

Projection for 5 am Monday - as of Sunday 8:30 pm
The worst of the storm will hit the Rhode Island border, but with an expected 2 – 4 inches of what promises to be very heavy snow falling after midnight, those in the central valley will be impacted.

At this time I am still calling for a definite late opening for WeHa and Connecticut Valley schools, but with only a 50% chance of closing.

Better do your homework.  You can always turn it in on Tuesday.

Better Do Your Homework

As has happened so often this year, it looks like the next storm will be passing too far to the east to shut down Connecticut schools on Monday April 21.

But as has happened so often this year, the computer models really don't know what is going on.  It will change again.

As of Friday night, I am saying chance of late opening in the valley is 75%, chance of closing is 30%

I'll revise this Saturday night.

Would You Trade a 3-Day Weekend for an Extra Day of School?

WeHa and the rest of Connecticut just might be staying home on Monday.

It is still early and the computers do not all agree, but it seems that there will be a heavy, wet snow in Connecticut Sunday afternoon into Monday morning.

Of course every storm this year has messed with us, but right now I say 60% chance of no school Monday March 21.  Happy Equinox.

I will update this Saturday morning.

Setting Up Housekeeping

The bluebird house that I put at the edge of my woods rarely has bluebirds nesting in it.  The environment is not what bluebirds usually like.  They prefer large meadows or lawns.  My box is too shaded for them.  I usually find chickadee or house wrens in it.

This year there seems to be an explosion of bluebirds and a lot of pressure on nest sites.  So ....
