Rain, wind, and suddenly autumn is over and winter peace descends. November on the pond is perfect.
When I was teaching, I used this blog to communicate with my students.
Now I use it to share my photos.

The true beauty of autumn
Sugar maples are flashy, with bright reds and yellows and tourists. It is once they have all gone that the true, somber beauty of autumn shows up.
Green pines and spruces and hemlocks give a backdrop to the rusts and golds of the oaks, while the birches are yellow punctuation marks and the beeches (it seems like most of the roadside trees in Wilmot, NH are beeches) are yellow and gold and green all in one.

Welsh Coast
Walking along the coast of Wales from Aberystwyth to Borth. Not much
level ground. 40 mph wind which was off the ocean fortunately as the
fences are mostly on the land side of the trail. Sheep are more
important than tourists.

York
The old city of York is a really nice town. Tons of history and great beer.
Roman wall on the bottom, medieval wall on top |
Holy Trinity Catholic Church - 800 years old |
wood pigeons everywhere |
St. Mary's Abbey - almost 1000 years old |
Good thing they put up the wires to keep the pigeons away |
the red bricks are something the Romans did |
Inside York Minster |
York Minster looms over everything |
