Sunshine, Leaves and Wood Smoke

After waiting weeks, and weeks (and more weeks) for the muggy, rainy, dreary weather to go away, at long last we have a day like October should be:  Bright sunshine, crisp air, a smell of fallen leaves and wood smoke.  I love the smell of wood smoke in October, although by April I am usually tired of loading and unloading the stove.

The only thing to do on a day like today is to go out on the water with a book and a camera.
Quiet Cove is the name of this part of Chase Pond.  There is a heron in this photograph.

My favorite view of  Mt. Kearsarge

No matter how tasty they might be, turkeys are ugly birds.  This one was patrolling the shore with a large flock of babies.
