Central Connecticut Snow On The Way... Maybe

Yes, another one!

Be glad that you don't have to go to school on Monday, because some of you would have frostbite in places where smart people will be wearing woolies.

There is a storm moving in on Tuesday morning, 2/17.  It was expected to show up Tuesday night, but has moved faster than thought.

In the last hour the computers have changed this from 1-3 inches to 3-5 inches, back to 1-3.

It is still too early to be certain, but it looks like you will have school on Tuesday, but stay tuned.  Admin will definitely try to get you to school.

There Will Be School on Thursday 2/12 In Central Connecticut

Thursday is Charles Robert Darwin's 206th birthday.  He took his travel year after college and stretched it into a 5 year trip around the world, then stretched it even further into a life of collecting data to prove his idea of how evolution works:

Natural Selection states that the steps in evolution are
1.  Competition for food, shelter, and mates.
2.  Natural variation in individuals (if he had known about DNA and modern genetics he would have called it genetic variation).
3.  Variations that increase the chance of surviving and breeding are selected by nature just like farmers select traits they want in their animals.

As for your chance of missing school tomorrow:  zero.  There will be light snow during the middle of the day, but no major accumulation.

Next storm is Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning.

Then there is next Tuesday night into Wednesday.....  Stay tuned.

There will be school on Tuesday 2/10 in WeHa

The storm is now expected to end by midnight on Monday, so you will have plenty of time to clear out.

Just be glad that the cold has produced light, fluffy snow - unlike Thursday's storm which will be heavier and hard to shovel.

Not sure about a school closing on Thursday as the timing is still uncertain

It is possible that you might see anything from no school Thursday to an early dismissal Thursday and late start Friday - or regular hours Thursday and no school no Friday.  Too early to tell.  Stay tuned.

Central CT Forecast for Monday February 9

The answer is, there will not be school on Monday in central CT.  However it now looks like it will clear up in time for Tuesday morning's commute.  Better have your work ready for Tuesday.

Thursday, February 5 Forecast For Central CT

Nope.  Do your homework.  With only a few inches expected, and a possible cancellation on the following Monday, I don't think your Board of Ed is going to cancel school on Thursday.  Probably not even a late opening, although that is open to change.

Enjoy Today's Snow Storm?

It was really nice, fluffy snow.

Ready to do it again next Monday?

February 9 has a bull's eye on it as of right now.

Three Day Weekend for Connecticut?

Pyrrhuloxia

There is some uncertainty, but it is looking good (or bad if you don't want to be in school on June 30) that a big storm will hit on Monday, February 2.

I'm sitting in that mass of damp Mexican air right now, with several inches of rain having fallen so far in Hereford, Arizona.  Then I will be flying home to get home in time for it to hit Connecticut.

Roadrunner
There is a question about the exact track and whether the big storm will hit Connecticut, but warnings have already been issued so that the towns can push snow back from the roads.
